Course Description: Undercover Social Media Investigations

Criminals are using social media every day to conduct illegal activity. The question is: Are you using it to investigate them?

This intensive, two-day course teaches law enforcement professionals how to proactively identify, engage, and investigate individuals using social media platforms to facilitate criminal activity.

Yellowstone Narcotics instructors were among the first investigators in Montana to implement undercover social media techniques in state-level narcotics investigations. Over the past eight years, our instructors have developed, refined, and successfully employed these investigative methods in real-world criminal cases. Today, we bring that experience directly to law enforcement professionals across the country.

Unlike courses that focus primarily on theory, Undercover Social Media Investigations is built around actual cases, proven investigative strategies, and practical techniques officers can begin using immediately.

Students will learn how to establish and operate undercover social media accounts, effectively communicate with criminal suspects online, navigate the legal considerations surrounding undercover operations, and develop criminal investigations from the first online interaction through successful prosecution.
